Clearing the Print Queue

When to Do This:

  • The printer is not responding
  • Print jobs are stuck or won’t cancel
  • You see an error like “Document waiting” or “Printing error”

 

For Windows 10/11

Method 1: Using the Control Panel

  1. Open Control Panel, Press windows key or Start menu and search fo

  2. Click “View Devices and Printers” > “Printers &  Scanners”

  3. Select the Printer you’re using and click on Print Queue

  4. Click on the 3 dots on the top-right or ellipses and select action

Method 2: Using Services (Required IT Login)
 

  1. Open Services:
    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Stop the Print Spooler:
    • Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Stop.
  3. Clear the Print Queue:
    • Open File Explorer and go to:
    • C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
    • Delete all files in this folder (you may need admin rights).
  4. Restart the Print Spooler:
    • Go back to the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.
  5. Try Printing Again
